If I were to tell you that one of the hottest occupations on the job market today is a plumber, you probably would not believe me.  But truth of the matter is there are several benefits and reasons people are flocking to get training for plumbing.  And the best part about it is that you do not even need a formal education to become a plumber.  Here are 6 reasons to consider taking on plumbing jobs yourself.

1. Great pay
Plumbing jobs are among the highest paid construction occupations offered.  It obviously varies depending on the experience and training you have, what kind of plumbing you are doing, and what kind of project you are working on.  But a common pay rate for a plumber is £10-£15 per hour.  If you work for a company your pay tends to drop, but working for yourself gives you the potential to make well over £30 per hour.

2. No college needed
In a time and age where education and getting a university degree is almost essential, it is nice to know that there is still a way to make a great deal of money without having to attend school for another four years or more.  There is absolutely no need for you to attend a University to become a plumber.  With that said, it is still extremely beneficial to you and your career to take some kind of plumbing training courses.  But these courses can range from a couple of days to four or eight months.

3. Hot opportunity
If you think about it, more and more homes are being built every day as the population continues to grow.  Two of the most important rooms in a home are the bathroom and the kitchen, which each have a lot of plumbing.  Because of this, there is a constant demand for skilled workers that can get the job done efficiently.  With a little bit of training and experience, you can set yourself up nicely for a great job in plumbing .

When you think about it, a plumber's job is stable regardless of how homes are working.  If there is a high demand for homes to be built, you have work to build new pipes and sinks and toilets.  If there is not a high demand for homes, older homes still have to be repaired so that they work properly.  Therefore, it is a win-win situation for a plumber.

5. Great training opportunities
As mentioned above, there is no need to go to college to get a job as a plumber.  In turn, many plumbers start their way by getting started with an apprenticeship.  This allows you to get hands on experience with what you will be doing for your career.  Not only do you get incredible experience, but most apprenticeships pay as well.  This will give you the experience needed thus setting you up for great opportunities in the future.

6. Job advancement
It may be sad to say, but in many professions it is not exactly what you know but who you know.  With plumbing jobs , you are capable of getting the best of both worlds.  If you start with an apprenticeship, you will get to learn a lot and become an expert on many things.  On top of getting the "what you know" part, you can also build friendships and gain connections.  Through your apprenticeship, you can build your contact list and begin to set yourself up for job advancement rather quickly.

For some it is amazing at why anybody would want to become a plumber.  But in reality, there are incredible benefits and a number of reasons you should become a plumber.  There are a number of different kinds of plumber jobs, great pay, and it is a stable career that most job forces would kill for.
